PCR Test: How reliable are they? Short video.

CANADA: May, 2021 Chief Microbiologist and Laboratory Specialist Dr. Jared Bullard was a witness for the government in the Manitoba court case, where the Government was to justify its restrictions on Charter rights and freedoms as being reasonable, necessary and beneficial. However, Dr. Bullard testified that determining whether or not a sample is actually infectious (containing a viable virus, capable of replicating) needs to be confirmed by lab culture. As noted, only 44% of the “positive” samples using a Ct of 18 returned a viable lab culture. Samples tested at a Ct of over 25, according to Dr. Bullard’s report, produced no viable lab cultures.

April 29, 2021 This tweet by former New York Times journalist, Alex Berenson, highlights the issue of Ct values being manipulated. The premise of asymptomatic spread is based on a positive PCR test. The has been no transparency on the Ct cycles in the last 14 months, despite many scientists calling the test into question. Why lower the cycles to less than 28 for only studying “breakthrough” infections after the vaccine?

The New York Times article “Your Coronavirus Test is Positive. Maybe it Shouldn’t Be” on Aug 17, 2020 cites two experts:

“Any test with a cycle threshold above 35 is too sensitive,” agreed Juliet Morrison, a virologist at the University of California, Riverside. “I’m shocked that people would think that 40 could represent a positive,” she said. “A more reasonable cutoff would be 30 to 35”, she added.

Dr. Mina, an epidemiologist at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, said he would set the figure at 30, or even less. Those changes would mean the amount of ge- netic material in a patient’s sample would have to be 100-fold to 1,000-fold that of the current standard for the test to return a positive result — at least, one worth acting on.

The article goes on to say, “The C.D.C.’s own calculations suggest that it is extremely difficult to detect any live virus in a sample above a threshold of 33 cycles. Officials at some state labs said the C.D.C. had not asked them to note threshold values or to share them with contact-tracing organizations.”

On Dec 14, The WHO put out updated instructions regarding “elevated risk for false SARS CoV2 results” with PCR tests used for detection of SARS CoV2. WHO put out another update stating similar instructions regarding Ct levels Jan 20, 2021.

The WHO recommended a “manual adjustment of the PCR positivity threshold to account for any background noise which may lead to a specimen with a high cycle threshold (Ct) value result being interpreted as a positive result” and providing the “Ct value in the report the requesting healthcare provider.” 1000s of doctors around the world have been calling attention to the high rate of false positives of the PCR test, specifically citing the values should not be over 25-30Ct.

World Health Organization Emerging Diseases and Zoonosis Unit head Maria Van Kerkhove said coronavirus transmission by people who aren’t showing symptoms is “very rare.” Briefing in Geneva on June 8, 2020.

Dr. Fauci’s briefing, September 2020 “…historically people need to realize, even if there is some asymptomatic transmission, in all the history of respiratory viruses of any type, asymptomatic transmission has never been the driver of outbreaks, the driver of an outbreak is always the symptomatic person. Even if there is a rare asymptomatic person that might transmit, an epidemic is not driven by asymptomatic carriers”.
